Painting Rocks!

Hosted by Khanh Bui, PhD (Pepperdine University)

Come ready to have fun and even reduce stress during this rock painting workshop! Participants will complete measures of anxiety and stress before and after rock painting to see the difference that engaging in art can make. Painting templates and examples will be made available to inspire your creativity. All supplies will be provided. No prior experience with art is necessary.

Dr. Bui’s workshop is based within the context of Susan Magsamen, Ivy Ross’ (2023) Your Brain on Art: How the Arts Transforms Us and Daisy Fancourt’s (2026) Art Cure: The Science of How the Arts Save Lives, and Cas Holman’s (2025) Playful: How Play Shifts Our Thinking, Inspires Connection, and Sparks Creativity.

Button Making

Hosted by Andreea Baker, MSN, BSN, RN (Doane University)

Let’s add another button or two to your collection! We’ll have designs ready for you and blank templates to create your own uplifting messages using a button maker. Show off your creative side and spread some positivity with us!

Both the rock painting and button making will also be available throughout the week as non-guided activities.
