Mentor and mentee in discussion at a tableMake a Connection, Make an Impact!

We are pleased to continue offering mentoring sessions at this year’s meeting. Whether you’re an emerging leader looking to connect with a mentor, or a more seasoned veteran wanting to make an impact on someone newer to the college health community – this one-on-one mentoring program is for you! Mentees will be paired with a mentor based on your availability and the information you provide via the sign-up form. Mentoring sessions will take place on Thursday, May 29 and will be 40 minutes long.

“ACHA stands out as the most inclusive organization I’ve ever been a part of. If you’re new to ACHA, one of the best ways to plug in is by requesting a mentor. I’ve had numerous mentors over the years who eventually became friends, and I’ve had the privilege of mentoring many others.” – Eileen Hineline, MS, RN-BC (Barry University)

Mentoring offers a wide range of benefits for both the mentor and the mentee. It creates a positive cycle of learning and growth, benefiting both individuals as well as the field of college health and well-being. Below are some of the key benefits:

For Mentees:

  • Skill Development: Acquire new skills and knowledge through the guidance and expertise of their mentor.
  • Career Advancement: Gain valuable insights into career paths, helping you make informed decisions and navigate your professional journey.
  • Networking Opportunities: Gain access to your mentor’s professional network, opening doors to new opportunities and connections.
  • Problem Solving: Mentors can offer different perspectives, providing valuable insights and solutions to help you navigate through challenges.

“Being part of the mentorship meetings at ACHA was a great opportunity to learn from colleagues, even after I had been in the field for almost 10 years. As a mentor, it was also fun to see excited new professionals and be able to offer ways to approach challenges or connect with colleagues within ACHA.” – Padma Entsuah, MPH, CHES (Columbia University)

For Mentors:

  • Leadership Development: Mentoring provides an opportunity for you to develop your leadership and coaching skills, enhancing your ability to guide and inspire others.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Sharing your expertise and knowledge contributes to the development of the mentee and promotes knowledge transfer within the organization.
  • Fresh Perspectives: Interacting with mentees can bring fresh perspectives and ideas, challenging you to think critically and stay engaged in your own learning.
  • Enhanced Communication Skills: Mentoring involves effective communication, which helps you refine your communication skills and adapt to different communication styles.
  • Legacy Building: Mentoring allows experienced professionals to leave a positive impact on the next generation, contributing to the development of future leaders.
